Is there a trick to catching Alpha Pokemon? ›

To catch an Alpha Pokemon, follow these steps: Approach the Alpha Pokemon and toss 3-4 Sticky Globs until the icon above the Alpha's head turns yellow. While it's stunned, circle around it, and throw an Ultra Ball or a Heavy/Leaden/Gigaton Ball at its back.

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Cranidos is one of the rarest Pokemon in the entire game. If you're looking for Cranidos, the Pokemon can only be found in a space-time distortion in the Coronet Highlands. Even if you find yourself inside one of these distortions, there's no guarantee you're going to encounter Cranidos.

While they're formidable foes, you can catch each and every alpha Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, just maybe not straight away.

Since Alpha Pokémon are always on patrol, it's difficult to catch them unawares. However, Arceus has several items to help players sneak around like a Greninja. Stealth Spray acts like Repel from previous games and makes it harder for wild Pokémon to notice Trainers (but not impossible).

When it comes to capturing Alphas, I'd recommend you use Ultra Balls, which can be obtained after reaching Star Rank level six. Next, there are Weighted Balls, which includes Heavy Balls, Leaden Balls, and Gigaton Balls.

As such, when players load their save, Pokemon Legends: Arceus will immediately load in a new Alpha Pokemon. This newly spawned Pokemon will have a chance of being a shiny.

Are shiny Alphas possible? It is possible for Alpha Pokémon to also appear in their Shiny forms. The base Shiny odds in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is 1/4096, meaning that every encounter has a 1/4096 chance of appearing Shiny.

The highest-level Alpha Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a Garchomp that has grown all the way to level 85. It should be one of the last you'll collect on your journey, but the payoff will be well worth the wait. Garchomp is a Dragon and Ground-type Pokemon found in the freezing Alabaster Icelands.

You can find an Alpha Shiny Eevee in the wild as soon as you gain access to the first map, the Obsidian Fieldlands. But just be warned: it's not easy to spawn, especially in its rare Shiny version.

Check your map and see if one of the outbreaks is located where a static Alpha would normally spawn. If not, then you need to find a new Massive Mass Outbreak. Once you've found a proper Outbreak, go to the swarm that is in place of the Alpha spawn and clear it out either by catching or battling.

Can alphas spawn in outbreaks? ›

Outbreaks can only have one alpha Pokémon spawned at a time. As long as the alpha remains on the field, no more alphas will be spawned. It is advantageous to catch/KO random alphas so more can spawn. This applies to other spawners as well.

Alpha Pokémon are great to add to your team since they come with plenty of stat bonuses above their normal counterparts. They will also have a unique Alpha symbol beside their gender in your menu to differentiate them easily.

This means every Pokémon encountered in the wild aside from Legendary & Mythical Pokémon has got a chance of being an Alpha. This ranges from a 0.2% chance to a 2% chance depending on the Pokémon, location and time of day.

An outsider Pokémon will often not obey the player's commands if its level is too high and the player does not have the appropriate Badge, Stamp, or number of Badges. Having all eight Badges or the Island Challenge Completion stamp always makes all Pokémon obey the player.

In the wild, alpha Pokémon will be at a higher level than other species of the same kind that can be found in that area, will have at least three stats with individual values of 31 (expressed in this game as initial effort levels of 3) and will know and have mastered a move that cannot be learned by leveling up.

Shiny Hunting Tips

Catching Pokemon takes time, but for Shiny catching, you should click on every Pokemon in the vicinity. You can sift through each encounter to determine if it is a Shiny Pokemon because, at the start of the encounter, sparkles will emit in a circular fashion from the Pokemon itself.

Shinies are found by simply trying to catch Pokémon and seeing if they display as an alternate colour in the battle and post-battle screens. They won't appear as a different colour in the field, so you have to attempt to catch them first.

By defeating or capturing them, you can increase your odds of a shiny Pokémon appearing. The easiest way to do this is simply to allow a powerful Pokémon to autobattle their way through the waves of spawns. After a while, if you're lucky, a shiny Pokémon will appear.

You can, however, obtain shiny forms of the starter Pokémon by hunting them down in Space-time Distortions. Meanwhile, if you want a shiny Unown, you first need to complete the Unown Research Notes by hunting down all 28 Unown locations across the Hisui region.

You are far, far more likely to come across a Shiny Pokémon during a mass outbreak than you are encountering one on its own in the wild. The odds are not quite as high as they are during a massive mass outbreak, but they're still significantly better than they would be otherwise!

The alpha value, or the threshold for statistical significance, is arbitrary – which value you use depends on your field of study. In most cases, researchers use an alpha of 0.05, which means that there is a less than 5% chance that the data being tested could have occurred under the null hypothesis.

However, the chances of an Alpha Eevee or Alpha Eeveelution appearing are extremely slim, so trainers will need to have a bit of luck and a lot of patience before encountering one of these rare Pokémon.
